Normalizing “Local Produce” in Black/Brown Communities

With the start of our free food initiate we wanted to bring a focus to local food growers with the city of Wilmington, Delaware and the surrounding locations. the city of Wilmington has a large monority population with a rate of 10%+ of people suffering from food insecurity and malnourishment within that statistic. with that knowledge we wanted to see what these organizations could offer the community that they are seeking to serve. within the summer this year we partnered with the Village Tree Garden located on Delmore street. Cecilia Rich services the side of Wilmington called the west side with her local produce. We specifically partnered with her to bring awareness to the green and feed people of the westside.
